Man Caught Dragging Dog Behind Him On Scooter Arrested And Placed In Custody

On February 6 2018, a Snapchat video emerged, causing mass outrage. In the video, a man is shown dragging a dog behind him on his scooter in Seine-Saint-Denis, France.

Animal rights organisations everywhere were alerted and did everything in their power to find the injured animal, named Gucci. French charity30 Million D'Amis and One Voice filed a complaint and a civil suit against the person responsible for"acts of cruelty and acts of abuse against a domestic animal, tamed, or kept in captivity".The man responsible, aged just 20 years old, was identified in less than 24 hours.The young man has been placed in custody. The hasty arrest was made by Anne-Claire Chauvancy, responsible for animal protection at french charityFondation Assistance Aux Animaux, who later said:

The police have done a remarkable job of succeeding in finding the individuals in the video in less than 24 hours.

Gucci has been taken in by Fondation Assistance aux Animaux, who said they have found numerous scars on her body, signs of previous abuse. She will stay at the shelter until she is deemed ready to find a new family. Since arriving there, she has already received numerous adoption requests.
