Japanese artistEiko Ishizawalaunched her project, the "Great Sleeping Bear", after hearing the news story of a bear who escaped from the Italian side of the Alps into Bavaria in 2006. This formerly captive bear crossing the country border sparked huge debate, now wild in Bavaria, the government eventually hunted him down. Ishizawa was interested in the concept of crossing boundaries and illusions that led to all the commotion surrounding the bear. On her website she writes:
By having the experience of transitional discoveries like finding a bear, realising a little human face in his mouth, and recognising details and [the] shape of this commodity, I attempt to create this work as to be a medium for audiences to generate one’s transitional perceptions and fantasies in reality.

The artist is selling these fantastic disguises for $2,350 (around £1,500) but on the condition that those who purchase her works of art send her photographs of the bear "in action". Whether out on a country walk in the woods, or on top of the Himalayas, she wants to create a map of the bears and their adventures.Essentially, if you've ever wanted to be a bear out in the wild, bobbling along in the woods or terrifying predators, then all your dreams have come true.So if you think those savings (what savings?) should be invested in a lifelong, plushy giant bear sleeping bag, then click here.We certainly will.
