Without His Service Dog's Help, This Diabetic Seven-Year-Old Boy Wouldn't Be Alive

In the middle of the night on March 2 in California, US, a diabetic child's life was saved when his dog sensed that his blood sugar levels were fatally low.

Jedi is an adorable black Labrador who has been trained as a service dog for his diabetic human, seven-year-old Luke. Luke's canine guardiancan smell when his blood sugar levels are too low or too high.In the middle of the night, while thechild and his parents were all sleeping, Jedi smelt that the boy'sblood sugar levels were abnormally low anddid all he could to save him.

The dog hurried to Luke's mother and desperately tried to wake her up by lying on her. Even though Luke's monitor said everything was normal, Jedi refused to move off his mother, a warning sign. Worried by Jedi's signal, Luke's mother pricked his fingerand realised his life was in significant danger.

Luke'smother gave hima glucose tablet to regulate his sugar levels, and took a photo of Jedi in action, overwhelmed by his guardian instinct. She shared the story on Facebook, commenting:

Sadly, Luke suffers from Type 1 diabetes for which there is still no cure. Thankfully, he's got his best friend Jedi to save his life every single day.
