A local pound in Newcastle, Australia, had put out numerous calls for a cat, Henry, to be rescued. The pound could no longer care for him and he had been in his small cage for too long. They had decided to put him down as no-one was willing to take him in.Sadly, mostrescueshelters in the area were full and could not accommodate another cat, including the Cat Rescue Newcastle(CRN). Late in August, however, one of the regular foster carers at CRN, Michelle, heard about Henry and said she could take him in.
The local pound informed the team that they had until Friday to collect the cat, otherwise he would be euthanised. The CRN team and Michelle wasted no time and byFriday morning, theyhad collected Henry. He had been saved mere hours before death and was on his way to his new home.

Adelle, who works at CRN, let Henry roam in her car while she was waiting for Michelle to arrive at the pound. She told Animal Rescue Site:
The moment I opened his cat carrier, Henry walked up onto my shoulder and gave me the most heartwarming kitty kiss I had ever received since becoming a foster carer. (...) I just knew in my heart that he knew what had just happened. He was finally rescued and this was his way of saying "thank you".
In his new home, the rescued kitty is now safe and loved. To support Cat Rescue Newcastle's efforts to save other stray cats, click here. You can also watch the adorable video below of Henry giving a "thank-you" kiss to his rescuer.
An Extremely Grateful Rescue!!Take a look at this beautiful rescue. One of our dedicated foster carers (Adelle) rescued this gorgeous boy today from the pound. He had a matter of hours before his time was up but we swooped in and did what we do best; saved a life. We ended up naming him Henry and just look how grateful he is to be saved. These are the days we live for!! Could we ask for anyone who would like to to please share this video with your friends. It will be a great way to create a bit of awareness for those fur babies still in the pounds who are currently living with a countdown over their heads and it's such a nice video that it's sure to brighten anyones day <3 <3 Welcome Henry!!Posted by Cat Rescue Newcastle on Friday, 26 August 2016
