Tiny Kitten Helps Golden Retriever Mourning Best Friend's Death

By

Pets who live together often form a bond so strong that they do absolutely everything together. This was the case for Golden Retriever Forsberg and Ginger, an orange tabby cat, who were the best of friends for eight and a half wonderful years.According to their mom, Jen Philion, they snuggled up on the couch for naps together, enjoying their senior years in peace. But sadly, all good things must come to an end and Ginger passed away at the age of 15 from thyroid cancer.

Forsberg was devastated, not understanding what had happened and looking for Ginger every day until he became depressed. To help the grieving pooch get over his heartbreak, Philion decided to get another little kitten, a black longhair called Maxwell.https://www.instagram.com/p/BHjCZxwDXxk/?taken-by=jenphilionIt can be a stressful time, welcoming a new pet into a house after the death of another that family members have bonded with. But luckily, Philion had no trouble introducing Forsberg to his new friend - the two got on immediately!Maxwell's presence in the house helped Forsberg get back to his old self, giving him someone to snuggle up with once again. As for Maxwell, what could be better than a big, warm pillow for a best friend?

Two years on, and the pair are still happy as can be - even if little Maxwell hogs the house's sunny spots!https://www.instagram.com/p/BaR96Peg8ys/?taken-by=jenphilionIt just goes to show that you can get through the hardest times with the help of your friends.
