This Sweet Dog Had Fur So Matted He Couldn't Walk Or Go To The Bathroom Properly

By

When Kari Falla, a dog groomer from Oveido, Florida, saw pictures of an abandoned dog in need of a trim on Facebook, she knew immediately that she had to help... Even though it was midnight!A group of people had rescued the poor pup from the side of a road, finding him matted, filthy and alone. none of them could look after the dog and took to social media to find him a foster home for the night. Their post was spotted by Falla.

As a professional groomer, she knew that fur in that bad a condition could do more than make a dog look messy, as she told Inside Edition:

When a dog is matted that badly, it can cause its blood flow to stop as well as bruising to the dog.

So she made the decision to open her shop, BGE Grooming, for the very special customer. When he arrived, it was clear that she had a lot of work to do and that he hadn't been groomed for at least 2 years. His fur was thick with flea-infested mats that were so bad he couldn't walk or even go to the bathroom properly.

"I knew it was bad, but nothing prepared me for what I saw. It smelled like death and the dog could not walk. They had to carry it," Falla remembers. She set to work, carefully shaving off the matted fur, giving him 2 flea baths and all the love and care that he'd been deprived of for so long.Despite the awful neglect he'd faced, the sweet pooch, who they named Lucky, was the perfect client for Falla:

The dog was perfect for me when I was grooming him. It’s like he knew I was helping him. Once we shaved him, he was wagging his tail and was so happy. I knew I did the right thing.

3 hours later and Lucky looked - and felt - like a completely new dog. Following the makeover he was taken to the vets, where he was looked over and given some much-needed TLC: Antibiotics, neutering and teeth cleaning. He was also found to be blind and deaf, and received laser eye surgery for his cataracts. Now Lucky is living with his foster dad, Zachary Blair, while he recovers and the authorities search for his old family. According to Blair, he's doing very well and catching up on all the family life he's been missing.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=376318829456713&set=ecnf.100012357974350&type=3&theaterHopefully, Lucky will soon find a loving home where he will never have to go through hell on the streets ever again. If you are thinking of getting a pet, please consider adopting through one of your local shelters, such as theASPCAif you are from the U.S. or theRSPCAif you live in the U.K.
