Figgy, an 18-year-old Poodle, was abandoned at a veterinary clinic by his family after they decided that they couldn't look after him anymore. They asked the vet to put him down - because he was "stupid".Figgy was blind, arthritic and had a mouth full of rotten teeth, but was in excellent health for such an old dog. Because of this and his charming personality, the vets decided that they couldn't put him to sleep and contactedMuttville Senior Dog Rescueto come and pick him up.

Sherri Franklin, the shelter's director, decided to keep Figgy at home with her for the first few days, since he needed to adapt to life without his family. But as it turned out, he didn't even need to go to Muttville; just four days after his rescue, someone offered him a home.

Eileen, a woman who'd already adopted several old dogs from Muttville, fell head over heels for Figgy and Franklin knew that she was the perfect person to care for him for the rest of his life. The golden oldie settled quickly into his new home where another Muttville alumni, Miss Abbie, could keep him company too!
