The new mother was scared of humans and had managed to evade local residents trying to help for three months. However, Hope for Paws volunteers remained undeterred and set off on the three and a half hour journey to find the dog.
He knew that it would be imperative to gain the Pitbull's trust before he could begin to take her puppies to a safer place, so he took his time to comfort and pet their scared mom.Slowly, she began to relax and Hagar moved the first puppy, who was beginning to suffocate, from the dusty den.
In total, the canine gave birth to 8 puppies and was understandably exhausted and so she finally accepted help from humans.Once the team had safely secured the mom and her babies, they rushed the new family to their hospital in Hollywood, California.
However, due to the torrential storm, the power had gone out, forcing volunteers to carry out their crucial work by flashlight. After their arrival at the shelter, the 9 dogs were given new names. Their mom was baptized Rainbow andher impressive eight puppies: Thunder, Breezy, Misty, Raindrop, Flash, Bolt, Stormy, and Droplet.
Amazingly, the little family was in perfect health, despite their unconventional start in life.Only six weeks later, the puppies were old and strong enough to be adopted, and thanks to the impressive work of these volunteers, they have now all moved on to forever homes where they can start their long and happy lives.
