This British woman will always remember her visit to the Colchester zoo, in the United Kingdom, last December.Pregnant, Morgain Cole Abbot was walking near the enclosure of Rajang, a 48-year-old male orangutan, when the primate had a touching - and unexpected - response.Remarking the pregnancy of the young woman, the ape got close to the window of the enclosure and delicately gave a kiss on her round belly. "I think I'm going to cry," exclaimed Morgain, moved to tears by the amazing act.

It's not the first time that Rajang, moved by his protective instincts, kissed the belly of a pregnant woman. See the proof in this video from 2015:[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3F0ZY2VzKc[/embed]While the scene underlines the immense compassion that animals can show, it shouldn't eclipse the reality which is much less heartwarming. Rajang couldn't really kiss her belly through the glass that separates him from the real world and deprives him of his freedom. He, and thousands of other animals are held in captivity around the world.A sad truth that did not escape Morgain Abbot, who published the video of the orangutan on social media before asking viewers to make a donation to a primate protection charity, the Orangutan Foundation. She hopes that the poignant sequence will make people more sensitive to the cause of wild animals:
Let's take this incredible moment and make an even bigger impact, in the hope that one day my baby will be able to see these phenomenal creatures in the wild, safe from harm.
