This Old Suitcase Dumped On Abandoned Train Tracks Was Hiding A Sad Surprise

A young woman who was walking her dog in the English countryside in early March, came across an unexpected surprise. She found an old suitcase that had been left on a set of abandoned train tracks after her dog instinctively ran towards the object and started sniffing frantically.

Intrigued, the lady came closer to the bag and began to hear faint meowing coming from inside. Both curious and horrified, she immediately opened the suitcase to find eight extremely young kittens, along with their mother.Luckily, the nine felines were all alive, but were very thin and malnourished. The woman contacted the RSPCA, the equivalent of the ASPCA in the USA, straight away, and the cats were quickly inspected by a veterinarian that deemed the kittens to bein generally good health, albeit dehydrated and malnourished.

The eight young cats were then sent to an RSPCA rescue center, while their mother, who was much more severely dehydrated, remainedin intensive care for further treatment.

Fortunately, the small family was reunited only a few days later, once their mother had regained her strength. Amy De-Keyzer, a member of the RSPCA, told The Dodo:

She [the mother] was kept at the vets as she was so dehydrated and needed a drip, but has since been moved to the cattery to be with her litter and is doing much better.

Since being rescued, the kittens have all received names from the famous Disney film 'The Aristocats'(Toulouse, Tiny Tim, Scat Cat, Berlioz, Alli, Duchess, Marie and Eve).As they are only five months old, they will stay with their mother until they are strong enough to be separated from herand be put up for adoption by families that will give them the love and attention that they need and deserve. If you live in England, you can visit the RSPCA, and if you live in the United States, you can visit the ASPCA to get more information about pets available for adoption.Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up in shelters each year, either due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Consider adopting before you shop, and visit your local shelters before going to a breeder. Every dog and cat deserves a fair chance at a forever home.
