A mother's love knows no bounds. And nothing could be more trueof Maggie, an Australian shepherdcross whose own litter of puppies were recently weaned off her and adopted into forever homes. But whenMaggie was taken to be looked after at theBarkers Pet Motel and Grooming in Canada, she wasn't quite ready to give up being a mother.

When these two nine-week-old Rottweiler mix puppies were brought into the shelter a couple of days ago, they were clearly terrified and disorientated, and so they yelped throughout the night. But the maternal Maggie wasn't going to let them suffer alone all night. In fact, the security footage of the shelter shows her breaking out of her cage to go and comfort the two puppies. She then sat outside the puppies' pen, desperate to get in and give them a cuddle.

Alex Aldred and his mother Sandy, who work at the pet motel, were at home when they saw the footage. Sandy then rushed to work tolet Maggie into the puppies’ kennel. She knew they needed each other.

It was really sweet. She just had to be with those puppies. The puppies needed her and she needed them.

Once they were all introduced in the kennel, they all quickly huddled together. The three stayed close together all night, and Sandy found them all snuggled up in the same position the following morning.

They were just all so happy to be together. She was nuzzling them really gently and nudging them, and then she laid down and let them cuddle with her.
