At the end of January, residents of a small town in Massachusetts made a sad discovery on the side of the road: an adorable dog, left in a cage with all of his toys, reports The Dodo.

The two-year-old Bichon, laying on a blanket, was also left with water and food, according to the Hingham Police who came to get the animal. Found on the side of a busy road, the dog seemed to have been abandoned less than an hour before. The person who left him seems to have wanted to make sure he was found as quickly as possible.

The tiny Bichon was brought to the Animal Rescue League of Boston(ARL), where further exams were done. The dog was in perfect health, but couldn't be identified as he was missing a microchip. The animal has quickly shown his amazing personality. ARL confided:

Volunteers and staff have remarked at how sweet-natured the dog is … and how much he loves his little treats.
Recognize me? This dog was found in this cage with blanket, leash, food, dog coat and toys on side of road near 158 Downer Ave. at 11:19am today. Had been there less then an hour. It had no microchip.Publié par Hingham Police sur lundi 30 janvier 2017

The Hingham Police are determined to do everything possible to find the person who abandoned the dog.

Our effort now is to investigate the circumstances, including locating the owner. If the adoption becomes necessary down the road, we'll give any relevant updates.
