This Dog Reunited With Her Mom After An Accident Can't Stop Smiling

Sirena Cartmell adopted her dog, Ness, when the pooch was just six weeks old. The pup was brought into the veterinary clinic where she worked to be put down, along with her mom, siblings and one other dog, after their owner had died in a car crash, reportsThe Dodo.

Instead of euthanizing them, they found the animals all new homes, and Ness went home with Cartmell.Nine years later the pair was still together, but a dramatic accident almost changed that for good.

Cartmell was on her way to work with four of her dogs, when a car pulled out in front of her and she was in an accident.Ness was so shaken up by the accident that when Cartmell went to check on the dog, she jumped out of the car and ran away. The woman started to chase after the animal, and another man who had witnessed the incident tried to help her. Seeing that he was quicker than her, she left him to do the running and went back to check on her other pups, but he came back empty handed.

Ness had disappeared. When word got out about the missing dog, the community came together to try and search. Cartmell told The Dodo.

There were so many people out looking for her it still blows my mind. Between my boss and coworkers to clients at the clinic to people who didn't even know me but had heard her story.

After days of searching without any luck, Cartmell received a call letting her know that the dog was spotted, but a police officer at the scene was having trouble catching her since she was still really scared.

I asked them to buy her a cheeseburger or something - she loves scrap food - and I'd pay them back and be there in the hour. he called me back maybe two minutes later and said they had her. It took a lot to hold back my emotion until I knew it was her, so I asked her to send me a picture. When I saw her with the officer I immediately broke down in tears.

She rushed over to the police station to pick up her beloved pet and thank the people who found her. Now, Ness is back at home, happy and healthy. And her mom is so thankful for all the people that helped her search along the way.
