Dogs are renowned for their loyalty, but some canines have a special way of showing it that is especially heartwarming. OnMay 13, when JesusHueche, 28, was on a ladder trimming the tree in front of his house, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he slipped and fell.

The fall was over six feet to the ground where he hit his head on the cement and lost consciousness. A witness to the incident immediately called the paramedics, but it was his canine companion who decided to take matters into his own hands.Hueche's dog, Tony, was so scared when he saw his human get hurt. The canine threw his body on top of him, and didn't want to let anyone near.

When the ambulance arrived and workers tried to put his neck in a brace, Tony reportedly growled at them and refused to leave the man's side even after he had regained consciousness.Even when they placed him on a stretcher, he tried to follow him into the ambulance.

Luckily, Hueche is going to be okay. His relatively minor injuries, an inflamed back and a bruised head, meant that he could rejoin Tony after only a short hospital stay. The dog is no doubt relieved that his favorite human is going to be alright, especially since he was the one to rescue Tony from life as a stray.

Hueche told local radio station, La Brujula 24:

One day we saw him on the street and adopted him, gave him love, food and is part of our family. For me he's like a son.

The pictures taken during the incident quickly went viral online, and people are praising the adorable relationship between the pair.If you live in England, you can visit the RSPCA, and if you live in the United States, you can visit the ASPCA to get more information about pets available for adoption.Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up in shelters each year, either due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Consider adopting before you shop, and visit your local shelters before going to a breeder. Every dog and cat deserves a fair chance at a forever home.
