In October 2017, a 20-month-old toddler was rescued from the middle of the jungle by Luke, a search and rescue dog from theCorpo de Bombeiros Militar, a military barrack in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The child, who was being babysat by his older sibling, managed to escape surveillance and disappeared for several hours. Beside themselves with panic, his family enlisted the help of their neighbors, but sadly they had no success.Called to the scene to help, Luke and his team immediately set to work, trying to pick up a scent that would take them to the child. Within minutes, the dog had found a trail and followed it, deep into the jungle that neighbored the house.

30 minutes later the little boy was found, completely unharmed if very scared, in the middle of the dense trees.The only signs that he'd left the house were scratches from branches and leaves.Thanks to Luke's extraordinary nose, the adventurous toddler was returned to his family mere hours after disappearing. Hopefully he'll think twice about wondering of again!
