Inspectors from the RSPCA were called to the spot where the puppies were discovered, frozen and terrified after being dumped in a garden. As it was a cold and rainy night, the puppies were very lucky to have survived, having been dumped when most people were getting ready for bed, and also being far too young to be away from their mom. They spent nearly 5 hours alone and confused, until someone living in the house the garden belonged to spotted them and called the RSPCA.They were taken to one of the welfare organization's shelters, where the medical team couldn't believe the horrific state they'd been found in. Where Lhasa Apsos are usually covered in soft, long fur, the young siblings were mostly bald and suffering from a painful skin condition, as well as malnutrition.

Since arriving at the RSPCA, the 2 puppies have been receiving the best possible medical care to help them grow stronger and heal. Weekly medicated baths sooth their skin and lets their fur grow back, meals 4 times a day make them put on weight and their room is heated to keep them warm. And, of course, they are being kept together, as they love each other very much. Georgina Meek, an animal care assistant at the RSPCA, said:
They absolutely love each other and cuddle up together for naps — it’s so cute.

Just one month after their rescue, the little pooches, named Perdy and Pippin, have improved dramatically. Now they just have to worry about being puppies, rather than huddling together for their life, and their personalities have truly begun to bloom. Meek describes the pair:
Perdy is a cheeky monkey! She is very naughty and so full of character. She loves biting hands and pulling on clothing and barking at you when you aren’t paying her attention. Pippin is a lot calmer than his sister. He is happy sitting on your knee for a cuddle and tugging on a little teddy. He will often take himself out of our play sessions and will sit in his bed where it is quieter. Perdy definitely is the boss amongst the two!

Perdy and Pippin are not quite ready to be adopted yet, but Meek hopes that they will be able to be placed together. As for the man who abandoned them, he was most likely a backyard breeder, who had money, rather than the lives of his animals, in mind. Meek finished:
Unfortunately these two are a plain example of the puppy trade gone wrong, which makes it crucial that there should be more restrictions on the industry so that no pups should have to go through what these two have.
