And for good reason, the moment this Chihuahua mummy is reunited with her puppies who she thought she had lost will move you to tears.At the start of March, two abandoned dogs were taken in bytheMarin Humane Societyanimal shelter in California. One of them, who was called Cora, was particularly wary of the humans who were only trying to help her. Petrified, she refused to move from the corner of her kennel.

After a few tests,the vets discovered that Cora had given birth shortly before she was found.She had clearly been forced to abandon her babies, which explained her acute distress. The shelter volunteers were then determined to findher puppies and reunite them with their anxious mother.

After some detective work and a lot of convincing, our team was able to get the person who surrendered the dogs to also surrender the puppies, as they still needed their momma and were not in a safe situation.
Two days after their mother was brought into the shelter, her babies were found and taken to her. At first Cora was skeptical, hiding in the corner where she had stayed fixed for two days. But on hearing her puppies' little squeals, she hurried to see them. On discovering all her babies were now safely with her, she couldn't stop wagging her tail.

The little Chihuahua mummy was so overwhelmed by her reunion that she didn't even know what to do. Her puppies were desperate to feed on her, having been starved for over 24 hours. But Cora was more interested in saying thank you to the volunteers, she went up to the shelter worker wagging her tail and interacting with her.

The whole scene was captured in a video which theMarin Humane Societyposted on their Facebook page."We have been inundated with messages and calls from people across the country wanting to adopt these dogs, which we truly appreciate.", the shelter announced.

The whole family are all doing very well now. Theyare in a safe, quiet foster home and receiving lots of love and attention. They will then be put up for adoption once they have been weaned, but for now they are with their mummy.
