Terrified of humans, Benji had never known a moment of affection his whole life. Every time the volunteers tried to approach him to rescue him, he bolted.Perhaps the most painful part of his rescue was his utter trauma when they eventually managed to restrain him. The dogs' petrified barking was truly heartbreaking.

Benji was in a terrible state when they finally managed to take a closer look at him. In the video, you can hear his rescuer saying, "This is one of the worst mattings I've ever seen in my life." But Benji's life was about to get a whole lot better...

Taken to the vets and freedfrom all his matted fur and faeces, the dog looked transformed. But he was still completely closed off and it took him over ten days tostart totrust humans.

Benji's emotional scars seem to have healed now and he is running about like never before! Now all he needs is a loving forever home to give him all the cuddles he so desperately deserves.Look at him recentlyin his foster home with all his fur grown back - isn't he beautiful?
