When shelter workers find dogs on the streets, abused and malnourished, many of them have never felt the touch of a loving hand. The Dodo published a moving video of dogs and cats who are often terrified when these humans try to help them.

With some encouragement, a gentle stroke, and a treat, the animals slowly learn what it feels like to be looked after for the first time in their lives.As the Dodo have captioned the video:
