Certain pet owners, considering their companions too old, too sick, too much hassle, choose to get rid of them without thinking twice. That's sadly what happened to Sonoma, a 20-year-old Cocker Spaniel. On April 18, a woman brought the adorable pooch into the Carson Animal Care Center, located in Gardena, California. A volunteer at the shelter explained:
Sonoma spent his entire life with the woman that just left him at the shelter. She felt he was too old and she would come home to find him swimming in the pool because he is DEAF and BLIND! He is completely confused about what is happening to him; it must be so scary.

Posted on the site, Pet Rescue Report, Sonoma's story rapidly spread, and thankfully, the adorable Cocker Spaniel only had to spend one night at the shelter, although it must have felt incredibly long, before being saved by the Frosted Faces Foundation.

Once at the organization's shelter, Sonoma got a nice warm bath. Veterinarians cleaned his ears, which were infected after a lack of care. The adorable dog then pounced on his little bed for a well-deserved nap.

Sonoma will live out his days here, surrounded by love and affection after being abandoned by the person he shared his life with for so long.
