Puppies Chillingly Soaked In Tar And Stuck To The Road Are Saved At The Last Minute

By

The animal rights organisations in Romania are still in shock: just a few days ago, four puppies were found completely covered in hot tar in a city in the north-east of the country.

These chilling images show how the dogs were left spread out across the road, coated in a thick black layer which left them unable to move.

They managed to survive for many long hours, the blazing sun leaving them soaked in sweat before they were finally taken to the vet in the city of Iasi in critical condition.

Local animal rights organisations fear somebody in the regiondid this on purpose totorture the dogs, since they discovered a similar situation just the month before. In this first case, two dogs were found in the exact same condition, lying motionless on a cardboard box, before they were finally rescued by the Sky Foundation For Animal Rights.Sorin Puiu, the vet who managed to save their lives, had to put the dogs under an anaesthetic to get the tar off their coats. He remembers:

One of them had a particularly tough time. He had his left eye, his nose and his mouth all covered in tar.

After this second instance, Cătălin Pavaliu, founder of Sky Foundation for Animal Rights, has expressed his fears:

We're starting to think there's someone in the city who does these kinds of cruel acts on purpose.

All are hoping that the police services will soon launch an inquiry to determine who was responsible for this revolting crime. Yet this is not certain, with a police officer sadly claiming it would be "wasting his time" to investigate further.

The poor pups are still being taken care of at the veterinary clinic, where they will remain under the doctor's watchful eye a little longer before being put up for adoption.
