Luckily, the associationRedland Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Projectare there to care for these strays, regularly bringing them food. Volunteers feed around 100 dogs each day, reportsThe Dodo. Jessie Pena, vice-president of the organisation, explained:

The puppies and small dogs and pretty dogs — all the adoptables — they go quick. Rescues take them. But the large dogs are almost impossible to move. What we do is feed them. If we find a rescue, we'll go to that area and pick them up.

She settledherself and her babies in a dark, hidden corner where the volunteers only found her thanks to her babies' cries. They approached the broken-down house under which the family was lying, and discovered a grand total of 14 puppies for which the mom dog would haveto care.

Princess Sophia waited nearly two hours before approaching the volunteers, before allowing them to take care of her puppies. The little family was taken to the organization's shelter, where they received all the necessary care. In the end, they found a home atBig Dog Ranch Rescue, while waiting to be adopted.
