Pit Bull Puppy Abandoned Because He Is Different Finally Gets A Happy Ending

By

Petey is a very special Pit Bull puppy. He was born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a brain disorder that leaves coordination and movement very difficult. In April, hewas abandoned by his owner who left him at a park in Sacramento, California after they found his condition too much to cope with.

The tiny animal was only five weeks old and was found, along with his sibling, sitting on a wet blanket on a cold, winter day. They had clearly been exposed to the elements for a while and the puppies were both freezing cold and emaciated.A kind passerby spotted the pair and knew that she had to intervene to save the young animals' lives. She rushed them tothe SPCA Sacramento shelter, but sadly, it was already too late for Petey's brother and he passed away.

Petey was so weak that he couldn't even feed himself andveterinarians didn't know if the two-pound pup was going to make it.However, staff at the shelter refused to give up on him and were ready to give him all the care that he desperately needed. They nursed the young animal back to health and once he was strong enough he was transferred to a foster home and put up for adoption.

Unfortunately, the first family that offered to adopt Petey returned him to the shelter after only one day, as they felt that they could not give him all the care and support that he needed.Nonetheless, volunteers were absolutely determined to find this special dog a forever home. Then, Simon and Michael York came along.
