At the end of March 2018, Tamera-Kay Greenwell and her husband had a strange surprise after coming across a baby otter in their home in Florida, as The Dodo reports.

Tamera said:

At first, I thought she was a ferret. It was about 8 p.m. at night. My immediate thought was, 'Oh my goodness, where is Mama?' Because I knew she was a baby. She was crying so loud, I thought she was going to die.

According to Tamera, the little otter most likely came from the little stream, across the road, near her home. She had never run across an otter before, so she gathered her up with a blanket and carried her from the garage back to her watery home.

However, the next morning, the Greenwells discovered that the baby otter had returned. Tamera believed that the little otter had lost her mother and was looking for help. She gave her something to eat and then contacted animal services to pick her up and transport her to Clay Humane, Inc for a check over.

Fortunately, the otter was in good health. Aged just four to six weeks, she'll need dedicated care to build the strength she'd need to survive in the wild on her own.
