Zuzu is an adorable dog who recently underwent a traumatic experience. The two-year-old puppy had been living with a family in California with her biological father, who recently passed away.

His death affected Zuzu very deeply and she was profoundly sad. She recently escaped from her home by jumping over the fence and the neighbors called the Downey Animal Care Center, believing the puppy to be a stray.

A few days after Zuzu's arrival at the shelter, one of the volunteers noticed her suddenly jumping for joy when she spotted a group of visitors arriving. She told BuzzFeed:

She lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked like the happiest dog.

"It was obvious the dog knew them", said Janay Lara, another volunteer. The group of people was, in fact, Zuzu's family. When she saw them approaching the pup, touching her and talking to her, Desi Lara understood that they would take her home with them again. The shelter was having an open day to encourage adoption.

Update:We would like to report the happy ending that a rescue has agreed to take Zuzu and she will be leaving Downey on Friday, which is the first day that she is legally allowed to be adopted. ?Doing Dog Intros we got inurrupted by a distracted and overly excited Zuzu. With her fast wagging tail seeing her owners Zuzu lite up like a Christmas Tree. However, when the volunteer asked them if they had come to get Zuzu back, they informed her that they were, in fact, there to get another dog instead. Desi explained:

Their reason was because she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore. Their solution for her unhappiness was just leaving her here. And [to] go get another dog.

So Desi, disgusted by this incomprehensible attitude, decided she was going to do everything in her power to find Zuzu a great home.Luckily, the message quickly went viral on Facebook, creating outrage amongst animal lovers. And the very next day, another association offered to take up Zuzu and find her an "exceptional home".
