The natural instinct for baby Wildebeest in the wild is to follow the largest member of their herd. So when a young animal somehow became separated from his mother and the other animals in the herd, he went looking for something else to follow in the South AfricanKgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Extremely confused and lost, the calf somehow made his way to the road where he found his next target, a car.The calf had unfortunately made his way into territory heavily populated with predators such as lions and cheetahs. Without a herd to protect him, the calf was very vulnerable and in danger.

Desperate for help, the wildebeest began to follow the vehicle in front of him and luckily was spotted by a couple driving just behind. They soon realized that the young animal must have lost his herd, they decided to stay close by to make sure that he was safe. After pursuing the animal a few miles down the road, they encountered a busy stretch full of cars. Becoming even more confused and disorientated, the calf decided on a new target; the couple's own car.

They continued along the trail, attempting to keep a safe distance between their car and the young animal.Zaheer Ali, one of the pair in the car, described:
We drove for about another 4-5 kilometers like this in search of a herd of wildebeest. The whole way he was crying out for us to stop.
The animal was clearly desperate and even began to attempt to suckle on the tires of their car.

Luckily, around 7km further down the road, they finally came across the herd of wildebeest that they were looking for.Recognizing her baby straight away, the animal's mother came running over to collect her calf.
