Scott Ewels sadly lost one of his beloved pets, Bear, after the cat was hit by a car. The feline and his brother, Teddy, were very close, and in particular, loved to explore the town together.However, Scott soon discovered that he and Teddy weren't alone in their grief for their four-pawed companion. Two weeks after Bear's death, he received an unexpected letter.

Moved by this short note, Scott responded to his neighbor straight away. He toldThe Dodo:
I mentioned that Bear had passed away, and was so glad that he had brought joy to their lives too. I included my email address, and she has since emailed us with pictures of Bear (and Teddy) in her house, and stories of their adventures with her.

It seems that Bear had been a big presence and even a helping hand for the young lady next door.Scott explained that while his neighbor was writing her thesis, she would recite passages to his friendly cat, as she had nobody else to listen to her.

Scott and his neighbor have since met up to visit Bear's grave together, so although he will be sorely missed, his death has brought these two people together through their love of cats.
