Gorgeous Rescue Dogs Join High School Athletics Team For Their Daily Jog

By

Shelter dogs often spend weeks, months, and even years inside rescue centres with very little to keep them entertained. It's a heartbreaking situation for these lonely dogs, and that's exactly where the St. Joseph Athletics Team from Santa Maria,California, decided to make a difference. On August 4, they teamed up with about a dozen dogs from the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter on their morning run, reports The Dodo. The team members were each given a dog to run with as they took a jog around the rescue shelter, and it makes for a truly heartwarming video!

Their coach, Luis Escobar, was more than happy with the result:

I am not sure who was more excited and having the most fun...the dogs or the kids. Either way, it was a great time and I am sure we will do it again soon.

Of course, there's always one. And this time it's Fred who got tired just a little too early... You can hear in the video "Fred's had it!" and he unfortunately had to be carried those last few steps.

One thing's for certain: it wasa run like no other! We can only hope that the team at the Santa Barbara shelter will indeed repeat it, and that maybe other schools will start to catch on.For now, you can watch the adorable clip here:
