Formerly Abused Rescue Dog Saved A 3-Year-Old Girl Found In A Ditch With Her 'Sixth Sense'

By

Peanut had a hard start to life. She was beaten and abused by herformer owners. She showed up at theDelta Animal Shelter, in Michigan, with two broken legs, broken ribs, and a stomach full of carpet. Thankfully, it didn't take long for the adorable pupto find a loving forever home after she healed.

It seems that she never really forgot her dark past though, and it's given her a sort of sixth sense for those in trouble. The shelter received a letter from Peanut's new family eight months later to tell them about the incredible acts of the dog:

Today [March 17], Peanut was responsible for saving the life of a 3 year old little girl. About 11am this morning, Peanut started going crazy at our house. She was running up and down the stairs, barking and yelping. She then went and got my husband, who was in the garage working on some projects, and alerted him that she wanted to go outside. He said he could hear her running around upstairs but didn’t understand why. He let her outside where she went barreling into the field behind our house at full speed. My husband followed her and to his surprise, he found a naked, shivering, 3 year old girl curled up in a ball.

He quickly wrapped her up in a sweatshirt and called the police. When emergency services arrived to take her to the hospital, she could only say one word: "Doggie."Authorities opened an investigation, looking for her parents and how this could have happened. Deputies went door to door before finding her family a few houses away. Policeposted on Facebook:

Further investigation unveiled unsafe and unsanitary living conditions at the residence. Child Protective Services was contacted and the found girl along with another young female were eventually removed from the residence.

It seems the little girl is doing much better and suffered no physical injuries from the incident. The investigation is still ongoing, so it's impossible to know exactly how she ended up there, but one thing is for sure, Peanut is a hero.
