The city's lawmakers are following in the footsteps of Phoenix, a city in Arizona. The ordinance is a way for lawmakers to take a public stance against puppy mills and animal trafficking. Private breeders will also not be able to sell their aniamlsin these stores.

The ASPCA states that most dogs available in pet stores are from puppy mills. Puppy millsbreed dogs in inhumaneconditions. These horrific establishments care more about their profit margins than the health and safety of the puppies. That's whywe always advise you - "adopt, don't shop" - and now this way, citizens in Beverly Hills will be adopting those rescue pups.

Hopefully, the move will inspire other cities to pass similar laws. Pets should not be bred to be on display in shop windows. Shelters and rescues are overflowing with pups who need loving forever homes. So you can give abandoneddogs and cats a second chance at life by adopting them.
