Dog Beats A Chicken, A Donkey And A Little Boy To Become Mayor Of Her Town

By

This year, the small town of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky elected a 3-year-old Pit Bull as mayor. Brynneth Pawltrow, or Brynn for short, beat other the candidates in a 3300-vote landslide after running a campaign based on 'peace, love and understanding'.

According to her biography on the Rabbit Hash Historical Society's website:

In Brynn’s down time she enjoys patrolling the town and licking most everyone she comes across. Brynn also enjoys hiking with her human in Red River Gorge, Kentucky. If you have ever thought about bringing the mayor a treat, try a tennis ball.

She also advocates for spaying and neutering local animals, and adoption, a cause very close to her heart as she herself is a rescue dog.

Her campaign manager (and mom), Jordie Bamforth, told Cincinnati.com:

Brynn has declared to be peaceful with any human or animal that comes through Rabbit Hash, especially the cats.

Other candidates included a chicken, a donkey and a little boy, but the canine was the clear favorite. She follows three other dogs who have previously held the office.Rabbit Hash is so small that it technically doesn't need a mayor. The elections are, in fact, a fundraiser originally thought up in the 1990's. Votes cost a dollar each and the money raised goes towards the Rabbit Hash Historical Society.

Brynn's election raised over $8900, which will go towards restoring a local store which was severely damaged by fire.Brynn will serve as mayor for the next four years, then will have the opportunity to run again for another term. We wish her the best of luck!
