Deformed Pup Was Sent To A Kill Shelter Because Of His Face

By

If you've ever wondered why adopting a pet is so much better than buying one, it suffices only to look at some backyard breeders who are in the industry for the money and completely destroy the lives of so many animals. Pablo and Picasso are two brothers who were born to a breeder who had clearly not given attention to his methods, and they both ended up deformed.

Pablo was sold to a family along with the rest of the litter, but nobody would even consider taking in Picasso because of his unusual face. His jaw is twisted and his teeth dig into the top of his mouth, making it difficult to eat, but besides looking strange, he is healthy. He was surrendered to thePorterville Animal Shelterin California, where he was immediately put onto the euthanasia list, due to the slim chance of him ever finding a family.

It was not long before Pablo was also dumped at the shelter, after his family of a couple of weeks decided they no longer wanted him, where he was put on the euthanasia list as well.

Luvable Dog Rescuein Oregon often works with the Porterville shelter and takes in dogs that they cannot accommodate.Liesl Wilhardt, executive director of Luvable Dog Rescue, was in contact with the shelter, and she told The Dodo:

She [a volunteer at Porterville] sent me Picasso's shelter intake photo. He was curled in a dog bed, and looked very sad. His twisted face was startling, but he had soft and gentle eyes, and for me it was love at first sight!

Luvable Dog Rescue agreed to take in both brothers as they could not bear to know that these two boys would be put down because of their looks. When they arrived, the team knew they had made the right choice - these were two of the most sweet, loving and playful dogs they could ever have dreamed of.

Besides the fact that Pablo and Picasso were super friendly to every human they met, they also had a deep love and loyalty towards each other. Wilhardt continued:

Picasso and Pablo seem to be the best of friends and are really upset when separated from each other. After watching them together for a couple of weeks now at Luvable, we think it's in their best interest to be adopted to a home together.

Things seem to be looking up for these two adorable pups who have already endured more cruelty in their short lives than any dog deserves. Pablo is getting ready to have his mouth operated on and will soon be able to eat normally, and the pair have already had a few requests to be adopted. The Luvable team will take their time in choosing the perfect family for this duo to make sure they will never be hurt or abandoned again. Wilhardt concludes:

There is absolutely no reason to explain why they were unwanted and taken to a shelter, except for the fact that they were born in an area with a lot of unwanted dogs due to a lack of spay and neuter to control the dog population. We love them. I wish we could keep them but they really are awesome dogs and deserve a home and family of their own.

Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up in shelters each year, either due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Consider adopting before you shop, and visit your local shelters before going to a breeder. Every dog and cat deserves a fair chance at a forever home.
