Just before Christmas, an unusual shopper turned up at the Horsetooth Inn and RV Park in the Rockies at Fort Collins, Colorado.Lori Jones, who was working in the supply shop, looked up one day to see a deer perusing the shelves. She told The Dodo:
It was hilarious. She was looking at the sunglasses and the chips. I was laughing so hard.

The doe was well known to the community, being the matriarch of one of the local herds who live and graze in the fields nearby. Jones, who was sure that she had no use for sunglasses, lured the wild visitor outside with a peanut bar and got back to work.But just 30 minutes later she was back - and she'd brought company!
About 30 minutes later, here comes the deer again with her whole family. I’m in the office doing inventory, and I come out to find her there. This time she brought back her twins, and this one young buck that she adopted. They were just looking in the doorway like, ‘Can we come in too?’ I said, ‘No’.

One deer was enough to deal with, but four was simply too much. Once again armed with a peanut bar, she got the curious family back to their field, rewarding their obedience with a little nibble before clapping her hands to send them on their way.For Jones, the experience was a reminder of the beauty and quirks of nature:
It was just a lovely thing to see. The population of wildlife here is just astounding. We have mountain lions, bighorn sheep, deer, raccoons — you name it. They have to fend for themselves. That’s nature. But I think they're all wonderful.

If you see wildlife in places they shouldn't be, do not approach them unless they are in danger. Although cute, animals like deer are wild and it is important that they don't get too used to humans, who could endanger their lives.
