This poor cat, abandoned since birth, has spent 20 years living alone in the basement of an apartment building in Hell's Kitchen, New York.Since living there, no-one tried to give her a home. After seeing the deplorable living conditions that this poor cat was living in, a woman who recently moved into the building, decided to give her a new chance at life. Upon meeting the cat, the woman immediately noticed the cats need to be loved.

In a video by The Dodo, you can see the bed she was sleeping in and how filthy it was along with the rest of the basement. It's a miracle she'd managed to survive there for 20 years.

The cat, later named Granny for her old age, was immediately taken to the vet where it was discovered that she had a tumor amongst other health issues. However, despite the odds being stacked against her, the vet confirmed that "she will be fine".Despite not being able to keep Granny, the woman was determined to give her a wonderful new life. Her friend decided to look after her and give her the "forever home" that she deserved.At first, Granny was very nervous and didn't leave the bathroom for a couple of days. However, thanks to the patience and kindness of her new mom, she soon adapted to her new surroundings. She now loves asking for head scratches and getting brushed.
