Bulldog Chained To A Fence In Blistering Heat Has A Narrow Escape

It is unclear how this bulldog found himself chained to a fence in New Orleans, but it is obvious that he had a tough start in life and was extremely lucky to have been found and rescued in April. The canine was chained up using an electrical cord on a hot, sunny day, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees.

Luckily, Tia Torres, of Animal Planet's 'Pitbulls and Parolees', discovered the animal just in time. She immediately rushed to his aid, and despite being a seasoned animal rescuer, was shocked by what she saw.The dogwas seriously malnourished, with extremely visible ribs, and was suffering from fleas. He had clearly been neglected for some time before being abandoned.

Torres gave the dehydrated dog some water and a bath to help cool him off and bring his body temperature back down to a healthy level.

After she and her team had done their best to take the dog out of immediate danger, he was brought to a veterinarian who gave the bulldog a thorough examination.Unfortunately, it was found that he had heartworm, a parasite spread through mosquito bites. The road to recovery was going to be long so the canine needed to be in a loving home where he would get all of the attention and care that he needed to recover; so veterinarians found a foster home ready to nurse the bulldog back to health.
