Danica, a five-year-old terrier mix, made a lucky escape from a truck destined for a dog meat farm in Thailand last year.

Previously, the canine had survived as a stray on the streets of Thailand before being captured by poachers with no care for her wellbeing. She would have lived in tiny and cramped cages full of other dogs in the same terrible conditions.Local authorities, who were alerted to the precarious situation of the dozens of dogs on board by theSoi Dog Foundation, seized the vehicle, rescuing all of the animals inside.

Danica, along with the other dogs, was transferred to Pheonix, Arizona in the hopes of finding a new home. They arrived in their new hometown on November 25, 2016.Wendy Wiedekamp was eagerly awaiting the arrival of these dogs that had been through so much. Danica charmed the lady straight away and Wendy took her home, becoming her new foster mother.

While Wiedekamp is enamored with the terrier mix, she already has two other dogs, a Labrador, and a pug. Sadly, Danica and the pug do not get along, meaning that the kind lady can't keep her. Therefore, Danica is still looking for her forever home.

The brave dog is very social and active and so a young family, possibly with children, would suit her perfectly. If you would be interested in adopting this special girl, contact the Hope Emergency Animal Rescue Shelter by clicking here.

While the dog meat trade still persists, luckily, in South Korea and China, the number of citizens who eat dog meat is on the decline. But the fight does not end here - we need to keep on campaigning until the trade is outlawed completely.LCA has made incredible progress in the fight against this horrifying industry.
