Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is making a generous offer to help homeless dogs find forever homes. During the first week of April, the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for dogs, including those in foster homes and at adoption events. Located at 2490 Giles Road in South Baltimore, BARCS is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

BARCS is an open-admission shelter that accepts every animal in need. According to the shelter, there are dozens of healthy, happy and adoptable dogs waiting for their new families. By waiving adoption fees, BARCS hopes to encourage more people to adopt and provide a home to dogs in need.

The shelter is also in need of foster families for adult dogs who are not yet ready for adoption or are unavailable due to illness or injury. These dogs may be too scared in the shelter or require emergency boarding. Fostering is a great way to provide temporary care for a dog and help them transition to their forever home.

BARCS' free adoption program is a great opportunity for potential adopters to find their new furry family member without the financial burden of adoption fees. By offering this program, BARCS hopes to save more dogs' lives and find them the loving homes they deserve.

Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is making a generous offer to help homeless dogs find forever homes.

According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter animal shelters each year in the United States, and around 1.6 million of them are adopted. Programs like BARCS' free adoption program can help reduce the number of homeless dogs and increase the number of adoptions.

In addition to providing a home to a dog in need, adopting a dog has many benefits for the adopter. Studies have shown that owning a dog can have positive effects on mental health, including reducing stress and anxiety. Dogs also provide companionship, encourage physical activity and may even improve heart health. Adopting a dog can be a rewarding experience for both the dog and the adopter.

BARCS' free adoption program is a reminder of the importance of adopting pets from shelters and giving them a second chance at a happy life. By opening their doors to every animal in need, BARCS is doing their part to help homeless animals in the Baltimore area. If you're interested in adopting or fostering a dog, BARCS is a great place to start.
