A Marine Broke His Legs And Bound His Mouth But He's Proof Love Can Transform

By

This adorable husky has lived through many tragic events in his short life. He was owned by a Marine military couple, and at about five months old he was turned into Ranch Dog Rescue in Temecula, California, after being found wandering the streets in May of last year. The puppy, named Kane, was only 11 pounds and extremely malnourished. His mouth had been bound shut with rubber bands, leaving his teeth to rot and permanent scarring.

The same person also broke the poor pup's legs, and he couldn't even cry out in pain.He received orthopedic surgery at the Butterfield Animal Hospital, and recovered remarkably well. He has been transferred to a loving foster home who is equipped to handle dogs with special needs.

According to Maureen Keo, the founder of Ranch Dog Rescue, claims that the U.S. Marine Corps has not investigated the incident properly. The Marines put out a statement saying:

Two Camp Pendleton Marines, a husband and wife, are under investigation by the military police aboard Camp Pendleton and their unit for allegations of animal abuse. Command is focusing their attention on the matter and will come up with a determination on what action will be handed down.

Keo posted on Facebook about the results of the trial which were reached in November of 2015. The female Marine in question was discharged with "Other Than Honorable" characterization of service. She pleaded guilty to inhumane treatment of her dog.

Despite what seems like a relatively light punishment for such a sad and violent crime, Kane is doing better than ever.He loves his new family and has become an unofficial welcome ambassador to all the new animals welcomed by the rescue.
