A Man Who Violently Beat His Dog On A Balcony Saw His Prison Sentence Increased On Appeal

Slaps, kicks, punches... Ivory, a female, 15-years-old, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, lived a nightmare. The dog was chained to a balcony in Marseille, France, and received regular violence from her owner.In December, the Marseille Court of Appeals increased the punishment of the young man: eight months in prison instead of the six originally given, accompanied by two years probation and a lifetime ban on owning animals.

The affair goes back to October 2015, when a neighbor, shocked by the mistreatment of Ivory, managed to film the man in the middle of a violent episode.

He hits her, violently lifts her by the skin on her neck, sprays water at her face, and even beats her with a broom. Thanks to theseterrible images, the police quickly intervened alongside the French organization 30 Millions d'Amis and questioned the young man. Ivory was placed at the SPA Marseille Provenceshelter."She was afraid at first, but after she was so thankful for her saviors. She's a dog who's nice, joyful, adorable. She exhibits exemplary behavior," reported shelter volunteers at the time.After a month, Ivory had the strength to get past her traumatic past and revealed herself to be a incredibly sweet dog. She was taken in by a foster family who decided to adopt her. "She is in great shape and is enjoying the fresh air. Her guilty pleasure? Dog treats that clean their teeth! Today, Ivory can live without ever fearing being hit again!" concluded 30 Millions d'Amis.
