A local citizen witnessed the appalling conditions that the animals were exposed to and immediately notified the authorities.Luckily, they managed to find and arrest the owner in charge of the backyard breeding programme. He is now facing multiple charges of animal cruelty, including not providing proper food to confined animals and improper animal sheltering.

According to the ASPCA, the dogs and puppies were found living in unimaginable conditions, packed into tiny, filthy crates with no access to food or water."What we saw here is no way for a dog to live," stated Kathryn Destreza, director of investigations for ASPCA Field Investigations and Response in a press release.

The puppies at breeding facilities are sold for profit, but many people don’t realize that their parents are often kept there for years, subjected to incessant breeding and usually lacking basic care and socialization, resulting in a very poor quality of life.

The worst is definitely over for these poor dogs thanks to the amazing work of the ASPCA, Pierce County Sheriff's Office and the Animal Humane Society.

But this is already the ASPCA's third large-scale rescue operation in April alone, so please help these dogs by donating to the association here.
