27 dogs, an African Parrot and a 6 year old child were rescued from a house in Palmyra, Pennsylvania last week.Rescue organization Pawsitively Pom Rescue were called out to the home by a woman who said she needed someone to rescue around 15 Pomeranians, as she was being evicted. However, when volunteers arrived, they found a lot more than they had expected.
Diane Bates, one of the people who rescued the Poms, told ABC News:
The owner had a few, brought in a few more, and none were spayed and neutered. Just like with every unspayed or unneutered dog, they are going to breed with every heat cycle.

The house has since been condemned as 'unfit for habitation'.Although all of the dogs were rescued alive, they were infested with fleas and required extensive grooming before being sent to rescue centers and foster homes. They will be available for adoption after being spayed and neutered, and checked by a veterinarian.
The child has been safely placed with formerly estranged family members and the parrot with a bird specialist. If you would like updates on the dogs, you can follow Pawsitively Pom Rescue's Facebook page here! You can also visit their website to find out ways you can help the group further.
